If there is a word that our culture knows little of, it is “ENOUGH.” Take a moment to take a breath and breathe the word…ENOUGH. I don’t know about you, but it relaxes me just to say it. Instead, we worship at the altar of MORE- more success, more money, more time, more food, whatever.
Just today, I saw a sign in Jimmy John’s Sandwich Shop in one of the most prominent areas of the Charlotte’s “Queen City” Region that read:
THE GAP BETWEEN MOREANDENOUGH NEVER CLOSES
That encapsulates the mantra of our culture. Pause for a minute and consider these words and image of the poet William Blake.
What God shows us is so countercultural. If we pause long enough, we can see that it is not a WHAT but WHO can make life more than enough. I love the words of Chris Tomlin in his soul stirring song “More Than Enough”:
All of you is more than enough for all of me
For every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with your love
And all I have in YOU is MORE THAN ENOUGH
Join us in January in person and on the web for messages posted at ForestPointe.org.
We truly can discover the ONE who is MORE THAN ENOUGH.
