JOSEPH ACCEPTED His Part In God’s Mission QUIETLY.
Matthew 1:20-24 (NLT)20 As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet: 23 “Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel which means ‘God is with us.’” 24 When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife.
Matthew 2:13-14 (NLT)
13 After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother,” the angel said. “Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.” 14 That night Joseph left for Egypt with the child and Mary, his mother…
*NOTE- Joseph NEVER says a word in scripture. He just obeys and does what he is told.
MARY ACCEPTED Her Part In God’s Mission EXPRESSIVELY
Luke 1: 31-33, 34,38 (NLT)
31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32 He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. 33 And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!”…
34Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.”…
38 Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.”…
46 Mary responded, “Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. 47 How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!48 For he took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed. 49 For the Mighty One is holy, and he has done great things for me. 50 He shows mercy from generation to generation to all who fear him. 51 His mighty arm has done tremendous things! He has scattered the proud and haughty ones. 52 He has brought down princes from their throne and exalted the humble. 53 He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away with empty hands. 54 He has helped his servant Israel and remembered to be merciful. 55 For he made this promise to our ancestors, to Abraham and his children forever.”
*NOTE- Mary sayd little else in Scripture except for the trip to Jerusalem when Jesus was 12 (Luke 2) and in the miracle of turning water into wine (John 2)
BOTH Did What They Were Called To Do.
Luke 2:4-7(NLT)
4 And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee.5 He took with him Mary, his fiancée, who was now obviously pregnant. 6 And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. 7 She gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.
TRIUMPH comes when we do God’s next thing necessary to WIN.
When we do what God calls us to do next, the win comes in the end.
THE BOTTOM LINE > I will Accept the Victor and get the Victory. I will do my part and come Triumphantly!
